Launch of Community Consultation

Karamea: A Town and Country Plan

Making our community...

Launch of Community Consultation

There was a good turnout at the public meeting held at the RSA on Tuesday night - 33 people turned out and heard about what the Karamea Consultation Group are up to and participated in the discussion afterwards.

One of the main topics was the process that is going to be used to get feedback from the community. The Group want to give everybody in the community the opportunity to participate and the main method is going to be by making a set of exercise books available at various locations around the district. Each book has a different topic.

  • The Place We Live In (our buildings, our landscape, our nature, our history, our culture, our heritage...)
  • Moving in Karamea (people moving: driving, flying, walking, cycling, zimmer framing... information moving: computer, talking, publications...       anything else moving...)
  • Community Health and Wellbeing (it’s all about our people our people – people learning, children playing, adults playing,  happy people, healthy people... )
  • Community Economic Wellbeing (Community prosperity, economic sustainability, our economic future...)

And there are two questions

  • What is the best thing about Karamea for you?
  • If you could have any 1 thing you wanted in Karamea, what would it be?

The books are going to be located as follows for the first week:

  • Monday 1 September to Wednesday 3 September - Karamea Area school
  • Thursday 4 September to Friday 5 September - Medical Centre
  • Saturday 6 September to Monday 8 September - Information Centre

More information about future locations and other ways to participate will be made available soon - check out the notice boards in Market Cross

So ....... if you want to have a say in our future - track down the books and record your thoughts. Feel free to send an email to one of us if you prefer to make your comments on the above that way.
