Hello, I am looking for a new place to call home, Im 33 and recently divorced, so I have been made to move on from what was my life and start over. After all the legal fees that come with that sort of thing I have been looking for a place I can afford to live for myself and my 2 housecats. And this search led me among other places to Karamea. The area stands out to me as a place I would like to live, its closeness to nature etc, and it appears to have a real community feel to it, which would be good. Anyway, that's a vague summary of me the point of my message is that I would like to see if I can try the area out. So I am wondering or after information on a few things. I have spoken to a few locals there via property they have for sale or such and they all seem great.
I am wondering about long term accommodation there or renting a house for 6 months or so starting at the beginning of July this year. I have not come across rental property in the area via trademe or such so I was wondering if there is a local means this is normally found. Im a simple person it doesn't need to be fancy, just a fairly priced place I can bring myself and 2 housecats(housetrained etc, by housecats I mean they don't go outside, so they don't murder birds etc)
Secondly some light employment, from my chats with locals they all seem to feel if I want the work then I would find it, which is good, Be it at a tomato plantation or helping on a farm etc, My main experience is in people management, but I have also worked as a roofer, a fence builder and even a labourer, I also ran a successful website based business for several years so have all the skills that come with that. So any pointers of any persons to talk to about it would be great. Can be part time, I just need to earn enough to eat n pay rent without eating into my house deposit while I tried the area out.
If it went all well I would be looking to spend up to $200 000 on a property which I have seen a few that would suit me just fine for less than that. Or maybe a little plot of land, build myself a simple home. Anyway for now, if I can find a rental property and some leads on a part time job, id love to come try the area. Perhaps join a few community groups, volunteer fire dept etc etc, Would be a good adventure.
Any feedback welcome, Any private messages welcome, for email information for me for any of the above or if you want my CV perhaps or whatever, just message me and I can flick you my email address. thanks for your time.
James
