Karamea Community Arts Council
Established 1992 to assist BDC in distributing funding from Creative New Zealand’s Creative Communities fund. The Arts Council exists to encourage art appreciation and participation to as wide an audience as possible and has worked with the Last Resort, Saracens Bush Lounge, Rongos, and Little Wanganui.
Due to a change in funding distribution, funding now needs to be applied for direct from the Buller District Council. The Karamea Arts Council coordinates and promotes artistic events and offers advice in regards to funding applications.
To provide a range of different cultural experiences to the community and secure arts funding for local initiatives. Coordinating art activities for Karamea area and facilitating the distribution of funding from Creative Communities fund via BDC, market performances/events. KCAC distributes grants to worthy artistic and creative initiatives. KCAC encourages artistic and creative expression among the people of Karamea.
