Welcome to the Buller District

Submitted by Margaret Macbeth on Fri, 02/11/2012 - 2:06pm

Flanking the Tasman Sea the Buller District extends from the famous Pancake Rocks & Blowholes at Punakaiki in the south, through Westport (the largest town in Buller) to Karamea and the Kahurangi National Park in the north. Inland to the east is the characterful pioneering gold mining town of Reefton. The lives of people here have been shaped by the heroic landscape, and our settlements still display plenty of pioneering spirit.

Karamea Poetry Night 2009

Submitted by Paul Murray on Sat, 14/11/2009 - 5:31am

The poetry evening at Saracens was a popular KCAC initiated event that was first held in 2008. There was considerable interest in the event again this year and budding poets from the Karamea community and beyond came to read their poetry to an enthusiastic and appreciative audience.

The event was a huge success, the quality of the poetry was impressive and the evening’s entertainment was an excellent example of cooperation between the KCAC, the community and a commercial venue for mutual benefit.
