JORDAN REYNE - The Proximity of Death

Submitted by Marge Innovera on Sat, 14/11/2009 - 6:06am

Jordan Reyne is an experimental musician from New Zealand, who operates across the electronic, folk noir, and industrial musical genres.

In November 2004, Jordan began a two month residence in Karamea funded by the New Zealand Department of Conservation. She used this time to work on songs inspired by the life of Susannah Hawes, one of New Zealands first pioneering women to be sent out to the Karamea settlement in 1874.

"The Proximity of Death (Blue Eyed Boy)" is the first single off her recent album "HOW THE DEAD LIVE". It is a tale told in folk-noir style. The CD follows a (fictive) dialogue between Susannah and History herself in the lonely west coast town of Karamea.
